Island Fishing and Gyotaku Prints

As an avid fisherwomen and monger, I create Gyotaku prints that celebrate the beauty of our local marine life while honoring sustainable practices. Each print is made using natural, eco-conscious materials, including hand-mixed inks and glue. This fish and squid used in my work are never wasted- after printing, they are enjoyed as part of a meal or repurposed as bait for future catches.

My process reflects a deep respect for the ocean and its bounty, capturing the intricate details of each creature while ensuring that nothing goes to waste. These prints are more than art- they are tribute to the interconnectedness of life on the island and the stories of the sea.
