This sea bass was caught locally off Block Island, Rhode Island, while aboard FV Miss Jenn.
Sea Bass are one of my favorite to fish for, from start to finish! It typically is a family and friends outing after a hectic busy Summer. Whether you fish for a living or it is your first time, you will likely catch one- so it’s fun for all. It symbolizes the slow down time of our tiny island, filled with cozy meals by the fire. Sea bass can be used for a variety of delicious meals and freezes well, so loading up before the cold winter months is a must. Printing these fish are more exciting to me because of the scales and textures that pop out. With small to medium size fish like this one, the room for creativity expands!
After printing with Sumi Ink, it is wet mounted to a second paper using the traditional Urauchi method to prevent it from wrinkling and lay flat into a frame.
Take a deep dive into the various ways I incorporate sea bass into multi-fish designs.
